June is all about Dinosaurs, and to keep our littlest ones giggling and squealing here are a few songs about Dinosaurs that we can sing at home.
This first song is a fingerplay song, but you can turn the song motions into bigger movements for bigger kids.
The Little Baby Dinosaur (to the tune of itsy, bitsy spider)
The little baby dinosaur (walk fingers up baby)
Climbs up to the top
Of a volcano (raise your arms into a triangle above your head)
That was about to POP! (pull your hands apart and make an excited or surprised face)
Out came the lava (pat the sticky lava onto baby…)
So very, very HOT!
And the little baby dinosaur (finger walk, again – QUICKLY)
Ran home without a stop!
This next song is a great parachute song. But you can use a little blanket or bedsheet at home!
Once There Was A Dinosaur (to the tune of twinkle, twinkle)
Once there was a dinosaur (shake your "parachute")
All he did was roar and roar
He roared HIGH (lift your blanket/chute up)
And he roared LOW (shake it back down low)
He roared FAST (shake it fast!)
And he roared SLOW (wiggle it slow!)
Once there was a dinosaur (resume your normal shake)
All he did was roar and roar
Hope you enjoy these songs during Dinosaur month with us, and all throughout the year. And remember, it doesn't matter how you think your voice sounds… You are making memories with your baby, and teaching them too! Have fun and laugh away with your little ones!
