What is ipsy? With so many beauty combinations out there, choosing the best items for your needs can be a challenge! That was why Michelle Phan created ipsy. How do you get the right picks for your own glam bags? By taking the ipsy bag quiz you can personalize exactly what kind of products you get. Products range from beauty tools (makeup brushes, lash curlers…), skin care, organic and natural products, nail polishes, eye makeup, hair product, and so much more! And if you feel like changing it up after a while, you just re-take the quiz – it's that simple!
ipsy is a subscription service, that runs at $15 CDN plus tax… In the end bringing you to around $17 each month for this great monthly treat. Inside you find great brands in 4-5 deluxe or full size products such as: MAC, Lancome, Benefit, Bare Essentials, NYX, Stila, OPI, Urban Decay, Khiel's, and many more. Need help creating a new look, or learning how to do your makeup? Follow along on their you-tube channels. Every month has a new theme, and new tutorial videos are created to go along with it. Tutorial URL's are always sent with the bags, should you want to try something new. Each month your items will be tucked away into a new bag that goes along with the theme. These bags also make great clutches for a night out, or to carry your toiletries and makeup when travelling. Ipsy is available in the US and Canada, and you know it's arrived when you see the hot pink package in the mailbox!
How can you become a glam bag subscriber with ipsy? Go to ipsy.com! Take the quiz, and then enjoy something a little different each month. Sometimes there can be a waitlist, but there are ways to get off of it. You can choose to "get off the wait list now" by sharing on facebook, and subscribing to the youtube channels. You don't have to watch them, but they do offer great advise, tips, and tutorials on how to do makeup.
This month's ipsy Glam Bag theme was: Beauty Candy. I love the name, because Halloween is in October, and that makes me think about candy… The bag for this month is a super cute "quilted" turqouise, smooth, and easy to wipe off.
What did I get in my glam bag? Épicé International Purifying Exfoliant, Figs & Rouge Hand Cream, ModelCo VOLUMEYES Extreme Black Mascara, Nicole by OPI Nail Lacquer, and Starlooks Lip Gloss in "Guilty Pleasure".
My favourite product? Easily the exfoliant. When I got my glam bag preview of what I was going to receive, I was over the moon that there was one coming. I love exfoliants… And this one delivers. It is a fine grit exfoliant that gives a smooth and even finish without being too abrasive. There isn't an overpowering smell, and it washes off easily. A great way to take your skin from dull to radiant by exfoliating 2-3 times a week… Love it!
The mascara I am saving for when my previous glam bag mascara (Urban Decay) runs out. But from what I can see the mascara is non clumping with a great brush for volume and thickening. This mascara would be great for making your eyes look more open and alert after a long night up with kids or baby. DYK mascara is a wonder for tired eyes or after a rough night?
The Figs & Rouge hand cream is rich in moisture and very creamy. Decadent because of the shea butter base, it goes on smooth and absorbs quickly without leaving your hands feeling greasy. Love the Rose Berry scent… Almost like fruit loops! I have this stashed in my diaper bag for when I am out and about, especially after washing hands or getting into the van in the cool air.
The nail polish was definitely my colour pallete, dark and neutral. But alas, I am not a fan of Nicole by OPI… I was expecting actual OPI. So I am planning on saving this for a gift to a special someone. These items also make great stocking stuffers or gifts to pass along.
Starlooks Lip Gloss is wonderfully creamy. I would say more of a glaze than a gloss, as it isn't as wet looking (which I prefer), and not as sticky as a gloss typically is. Loved that it smells like cookies and cream. A beautiful rose-nude neutral shade that gives just a hint of colour and brings a little more life to a tired face. Because, let's face it… As a mama I don't get a lot of sleep sometimes!
