Spring Break Activities for Red Deer & Central Alberta – 2015

With spring break around the corner, we’ve done our homework and found what’s going on in Red Deer & Central Alberta to keep your kids boredom free.

Public schools will be out from March 26-April 6 (weekends included).

Catholic schools will be out April 3-10. 

Day @ The Museum Camps 
We love that the  Red Deer MAG is offering one-day camps for Spring Break. Register you child for a day full of theme based art craft, indoor and outdoor activities, and free-time in the galleries to explore. Theme day choices are Dr.Seuss, Medieval Kingdom, and Space Travel. Camps are designed for kids ages 6-12. MAG camps are also available for PD days. $30 per day for non-museum members and $25 per day for museum members.
March 20-May 15, 9-4pm

Collicutt Centre Camps
Register your preschooler or child for games, crafts, swimming, climbing and so much more. Interested in full day camps? There is also a lunch option available through Good Earth Cafe. Spaces are filling up fast, so don't wait to register.
Dates Available from March 30-April 10 depending on camp.

Guess Who? Family Mystery Program
Bring the whole family to the Dawe library for a big surprise. A Mystery Storytelling guest will take you on a journey to a world full of games, crafts and more. Puppet shows, famous literary character appearances and scavenger hunts may happen, so be ready for adventure!
March 28, 1-2pm

School's Out – Just Keep Swimming 
Head to the Timberlands library to see what all the commotion in the ocean is. Watch Finding Nemo, make a craft, and try to find Nemo and his friends in an underwater scavenger hunt!
March 31, 1-3pm

Muppet Mania (ages 8+)
Watch the Muppet Movie, try to complete heist challenges, make your own muppet, and so much more at the Snell Auditorium in the downtown library. This program is suggested for ages 8+, due to the movie having a PG rating. Children under the age of 8 may attend with an adult.
April 1, 1-3:30pm

Maker Kids (ages 8+)
Build, create & explore in the Timberlands library makerspace just for kids. Mindstorm, makey makey, littleBits, Lego and so much more will be available to create whatever you set your mind to.
April 2, 1-2pm

Recreation Fun 
Everything from registered programs, swimming and skating, to arts programs and day camps. Discover it all, get active, and have fun. 

Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt at Heritage Ranch
Start your adventure off with a S'mores Bar on beside the fire, and then grab your flashlights to hunt for eggs! Tickets are $25/adult, $13/child (ages 4-14), $2/child (ages 3 & under), or a family of four for $49. Limited tickets available.
April 3, starting at 8pm. 

Easter Egg Hunt at Heritage Ranch
Take a ride by wagon or tractor to a secret location for their Easter egg hunt. T-minus 10 minutes and counting to find as many chocolate eggs as you can, before heading back to the ranch for a hot dog roast by the fire. Tickets are $34/adult, $15/child (ages 4-14), $2/child (ages 3 & under), or a family of four for $75. Limited tickets available.
April 4

Cafe O'Play 
Mondays at the cafe from 9-11am receive a free drip coffee with paid admission! "Toonie Tuesdays" $2 admission is every Tuesday all day long, so grab a friend for a coffee date while the kids play.

C’AMPED Spring Break Camp (ages 6-10)
Blackfalds Abbey Centre will have your child amped to go to this camp providing games, crafts and many more fun activities to keep them active throughout the day. Spring Break prices are $120/child. Did you know C'AMPED is also available on PD days? Check their website for dates!
March 30-April 2

Kinsmen Club Indoor Playground at the Abbey Centre
With 6 levels and over 2,600 square feet of fun this play space is waiting to be conquered, climbed and played on! Toddlers will enjoy tot-sized structures and various play features that are ideal for them to learn, explore and discover the joy of play. Admission for kids age 3-12 is $4.50, and kids 2 & under are FREE.

Chapters/Indigo: March Break Headquarters
Head to your local Chapters or Indigo bookstore for tons of FREE fun! Lego figure swaps, Klutz arts and crafts, storytime, science, Disney Cinderella, and more!

G.H.Dawe Camps
The GH Dawe Community Centre also has Camps for school age during Spring break for school age children ages 5-12 years. Before and After Care is available upon request. Register your little camper for swimming, games, crafts and fun. Preschool camps are available for ages 3-5 years. More information is available in the Spring/Summer Activity guide.
March 30 – Apr 10 (depending on the camp)

Toddler/Preschooler Easter Egg Hunt
There is a special event on Saturday April 4th for 2 and 3 year olds from 10:00am-12:00pm where they will go on an Easter Egg hunt. Contact the G.H.Dawe Community Centre for more details.
