A nutritious first food for baby that also freezes well to make breakfast a breeze. Made with baby cereal, it’s perfect for Baby Led Solids or the independent feeder.

Description:

We are all abuzz about Baby Led Weaning/Solids (BLW) this week at momstown Central-Alberta, and our mamas got together to talk and learn about BLW at Walmart Baby Basics: Every Little Step program.

Many mamas love giving their little ones cereal as a first food, but for BLW babes you skip the purees and ditch the baby foods. So if you still would like to give your baby iron fortified cereal and want to try your hand at BLW, you can use your baby cereal in these pancakes! They freeze well on a sheet of wax paper, and can be taken out to defrost as needed… The pancakes are also great for older babies and toddlers as well.

Want to know more about Baby Led Weaning? Check out our blog post on it here: http://central-alberta.momstown.ca/parenting-baby-pregnancy-family-life/what-baby-led-weaningsolids

Ingredients:

1 cup flour (white or whole wheat)
1 cup rice cereal
3 eggs
1/2 cup applesauce
water until the right consistency

Mix all ingredients together, and add enough water to make pancake consistency

2. Cook on frying pan just like regular pancakes, flipping when the bubbles form on the top. Cook until golden.

OPTIONAL: For an added boost of nutrition, you can mash a banana into your pancake batter. Or try adding some halved raisins, blueberries, or chopped strawberries… You can even go the veggie route and cook them with chopped peppers, brocolli, or even by just smearing avacado on top!
