Description:

Being a mom can be BUSY! So here is a great recipe to make for yourself, or to gift a friend/loved one to have a spa moment at home. This is quick, and fairly mess free to make yourself. Who said DIY had to be hard?

What's so great about Detox bath salts? Here are a few great reasons you should enjoy one…

1. Your skin is the body's largest organ, and absorbs anything you put into or onto it. By soaking in a mineral bath (epsom salts are made up of magnesium and sulphate) you take in the minerals and excrete the toxins from your body by a process called reverse osmosis. What does this mean? The bath will pull salts and toxins from the body to allow magnesium and sulphates to enter the body.

2. Using epsom salts regularly is proven to improve health conditions such as athlete's foot, sprains, bruises, and muscle soreness. A great at home treatment for anyone who deals with chronic disease or pain.

Who should not use a detox bath? Contraindications to any detox spa treatment would be anyone who is pregnant, trying to become pregnant, dehydrated,  cardiac problems, or if you have any open wounds/burns. Why is it not recommended to do a detox soak when pregnant or trying to conceive? During pregnancy you are taking care of something precious inside you. Nutrients go to the fetus first and foremost, and you could take out vital nutrients needed. Also, during the first trimester your body can mistake your new baby as a foreign object or toxin and there are cases when detox treatments have triggered miscarriages. We just want you to be safe and informed.

When enjoying a detox bath, it is also very important to soak no longer than 20-30 minutes and to drink plenty of water. Hydration is an important step in any detoxifying treatment, as you are flushing your bodily toxins out through your liver and kidneys. So drink up!

Above all, enjoy your relaxing bath time… We hope the kiddos don't disturb you! Namaste.

Ingredients:

2 cups epsom salts
1/4 cup sea salt
1/2 cup baking soda
2-3 tbsp chopped rosemary
6-8 drops lemon essential oil
2-3 tbsp lemon zest (optional)

2. Add 1/2 of your essential oil drops, mix, add the other 1/2.

3. Mix in your chopped rosemary leaves, and zest if you are adding zest.

4. Store in a dry, airtight container.
